Michael Houstoun and I listened through and talked about the CSO recording of the piano concerto. Very productive. I still find myself marveling at sitting in the same room as this incredible musician.

Showed Michael images from James Nachtwey book Inferno (which inspired the 2nd movement). Strong reaction.

Feel much more relaxed about the upcoming session. As before Marc T and Michael H have already performed this work (and together). The NZSO have also performed it twice in 2004. Logistically it’s also a lot simpler. No brass, wind, or percussion solo.
